1. The Annual Meetings of IMF/WB
The Annual Meetings of International Money Fund (IMF) and the World Bank
Group, held in the autumn of each year and have broad-ranging
discussions on poverty reduction, economic development and finance.
As customary, once in every three years the Annual Meetings are held
outside the organizations' Washington D.C. headquarters, the 2012
meetings will convene in Tokyo from 12th to 14th October.
The Annual Meetings gather members of the private sector, including representatives
of member states, as well as the media, private sector, financial
institutions and CSOs (civil society organizations).
A number of seminars and symposiums, held during the same week, provide additional
opportunities for dialogue and networking. Total attendance is expected
to be approximately 10,000.
2. Civil Society Policy Forum
The Annual Meetings gather not only finance ministers, central bank
governors, but also members of the private sector, the media and CSOs
such as NGOs. They also convene seminars and symposiums. In the 2011
meetings, the CSO Forum was held during the same week. A number of
events by CSO were also held from 21st to 24th September.
3. Japan CSO Network on IMF & World Bank Annual Meetings
Purpose"Japan CSO Network on IMF & World Bank Annual Meetings" is formed in
October 2011. The purpose of the network is to stimulate information
sharing and partnership between CSOs in Japan, and encourage exchanging
between foreign CSOs, IMF &
World Bank and other sectors, and to support advocacy by CSOs.
