The Civil Society 7 (C7)<\/strong><\/a> is an official G7 engagement group representing civil society interests and developing recommendations to be escalated into G7 Summit decisions.<\/p>\n

Aoi Horiuchi<\/strong>, Senior Advocacy Officer of JANIC, serves as a member of C7 Steering Committee<\/a>, and participated in the C7 Summit held in Ottawa, Canada, between 14 and 15 April 2025.<\/p>\n

The Civil 7 Communiqu\u00e9<\/strong>, endorsed by civil society partners from across the globe, calls on G7 leaders to recognize that there can be no security and no just economic progress without global cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the 2025 C7 Summit drew to a close, one message stood out with unmistakable clarity: the world is at an inflection point\u2014and the G7 cannot afford to stand still.<\/span><\/p>\n

Decades of international cooperation have brought progress and prosperity, yet rising isolationism, escalating conflicts, the climate emergency and deepening inequality are threatening to undo this hard-won progress. These converging crises are creating a more unstable world\u2014one that puts everyone at risk, including the G7 countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the heart of every policy decision must be people\u2014their dignity, security, and future. The G7 is not merely a forum for dialogue; it must be a driver of meaningful action and a champion of global solidarity.<\/span><\/p>\n

We urge G7 leaders to engage seriously with the C7\u2019s recommendations and commit to building a more just, equitable and sustainable world\u2014for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n
