As the leading network of international development NGOs in Japan, JANIC strives to create a more equitable and sustainable world by strengthening the capacity of civil society and fostering strategic partnerships.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n

\n

Promote partnership among NGOs<\/h3>\n
\n
\u30fbCoordinate meetings and foster collaboration among NGOs.<\/div>\n
\u30fbStrengthen networks with regional and thematic NGO networks in Japan.<\/div>\n
\u30fbEngage with international networks such as FORUS, ADA, ADN, CIVICUS, Bond, and InterAction.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Research and Advocacy<\/h3>\n
\n
\u30fbServe as a focal point and secretariat for formal dialogues between Japanese NGOs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA), and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).<\/div>\n
\u30fbConduct research and advocacy on global issues, focusing on SDGs (especially Goals 16 and 17), “Enabling Environment for CSOs,” and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).<\/div>\n
\u30fbCoordinate Japanese NGO delegations for global fora such as the UN General Assembly and G7\/G20 Summits.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Strengthen Capacity and Social Responsibility of NGOs<\/h3>\n
\n
\u30fbProvide capacity-building opportunities through specialized training programs for NGO staff.<\/div>\n
\u30fbRevitalize NGO activities:<\/strong>\n – Facilitate JANIC Working Groups (WGs), where NGOs voluntarily gather to share knowledge and address common challenges.<\/span><\/div>\n
– Provide a shared workspace and manage an “Incubation Center” within the JANIC office. <\/span><\/div>\n
\u30fbEnhance the Quality and Accountability (Q&A) of NGOs:<\/strong>\n – Collaborate with JQAN (Quality and Accountability Network Japan) to promote international standards (e.g., CHS).\n<\/span><\/div>\n
– Collaborate with JaNISS (Japan NGO Initiative for Safety and Security) to strengthen security management and advocacy. <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Promote Support and Citizen Participation<\/h3>\n
\n
\u30fbCo-organize “Global Festa JAPAN,” the nation’s largest annual international cooperation event, in partnership with MOFA and JICA.<\/div>\n
\u30fbRaise public awareness through lectures and booth exhibitions at various events.<\/div>\n
\u30fbManage and update the “NGO Directory,”<\/strong> a comprehensive database of Japanese NGOs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Foster Cross-Sectoral Partnerships<\/h3>\n

\u30fbBridge the gap between NGOs and diverse stakeholders, including local governments, private enterprises, and labor unions.<\/div>\n
\u30fbProvide strategic advice and information to catalyze grassroots international voluntary activities.<\/div>\n
\u30fbServe as a platform for collective action through our roles as secretariat for:<\/div>\n
\u2013 The NGO-Labor Union International Collaboration Forum (since 2004)<\/div>\n
